Burning platform – There are missed opportunities to present and share the Berea message through relationships built upon tour visits and the visual impact of the wood craft area. Process Description – Crafts are made from lumber and are fabricated/assembled/finished using machines and hand tools. Problem Statement – Unneeded tools and jigs take up space that could be used productively, and wood dust/shavings build up in work areas creating workplace hazards. Successes Visual standards were established & posted in the work place. Standard work was developed for Skittles game assembly. OSHA complaint of work place cleanliness resolved. Skills Matrix posted for all labor students. Removed two obsolete/unused pieces of equipment. Savings - square footage valued at $36,000 reclaimed.
