From: Selective Transplantation of Rods Delays Cone Loss in a Retinitis Pigmentosa Model Arch Ophthalmol. 2000;118(6):807-811. doi:10.1001/archopht.118.6.807 Figure Legend: Immunolabeling of flat-mounted transplanted retinal degeneration retinas, viewed from above. Top, This large graft was prelabeled with PKH26-GL fluorescing orange/red (G), which is clearly visible against the host retina, in which green specks (arrow) are peanut agglutinin–labeled cones. Bottom, This graft was present as scattered islands of cells labeled with antirod opsin antibody (red, G) visible against the host retinal background exhibiting green peanut agglutinin–labeled cones (arrow). Scale bar indicates 20 µm. Date of download: 10/12/2017

From: Selective Transplantation of Rods Delays Cone Loss in a Retinitis Pigmentosa Model Arch Ophthalmol. 2000;118(6):807-811. doi:10.1001/archopht.118.6.807 Figure Legend: Scatterplot showing range and mean (bar) of residual cone numbers in individual retinas of 7-week-old retinal degeneration (rd) mice after the different experimental treatments. Treatments 2 through 4 were almost identical to unoperated-on control mice, and treatment 1 led to the significant protection of approximately 40% of the cone population normally lost during this interval. Treatments are as follows: (1) C57 mouse photoreceptor-grafted eyes, (2) C57 mouse inner retina–grafted eyes, (3)rd mouse photoreceptor-grafted eyes, (4) gelatin-grafted eyes, and (5) paired nonoperated eyes. Asterisk indicates P<.001. Date of download: 10/12/2017
