A Cookout for A Cause 1888 Press Release - Join Honda of Fort Myers on August 8th to raise funds for Medical Expenses for our dear friends and co-workers Ivan and Mike. Fort Myers-Cape Coral, FL - Honda of Fort Myers along with our Sonic Automotive Partners are reaching out to the public with a call for help. We are currently raising funds for one of our family members whom is in desperate need of Kidney Transplant. The goal at hand is to raise $40,000 to cover costs of the procedure. Honda of Fort Myers will be hosting a Fundraiser Cookout at our dealership located at: 14020 S. Tamiami Trail in Fort Myers. The event will be held on Tuesday August 8th from 11:00am until 4:00pm. Food will be provided as well as raffles for excellent prizes. All proceeds from the event will go to benefit the medicals costs for Ivan’s procedure. A good friend and fellow employee has been battling a kidney disease called FSGS-- Focal Segmental Glomerolo Sclerosis (FSGS). FSGS is a rare disease that attacks the kidney’s filtering units (glomeruli) causing serious scarring which leads to permanent kidney damage and even failure. FSGS is one of the causes of a serious condition known as Nephrotic Syndrome. About 2 weeks ago, Ivan had to stop working and start dialysis to help treat the disease until a donor was available. After contacting multiple hospitals and centers to find a donor, a miracle happened. One of our co-workers at Honda of Ft. Myers was tested and is a MATCH. That associate is Mike Guzman. He has known Ivan for a long time and was more than willing help him and give him a kidney. Both of the men will be unable to work for an extended period and we want to help them.

After the surgery, Ivan is expected to out for 3-6 months and Mike will be out for 2-3 months.
