Community Buildings in Wales There other threats that we need to be aware of:

Community Buildings in Wales What can we do to improve our buildings?

Community Buildings in Wales More energy efficient Install renewable energy Get rid of the damp Make them physically more attractive Make them more flexible Make them easier to run and control …………….

Community Buildings in Wales How do we achieve this?

Understand them (and us)

Understand them (and us) Where is it built? What is it built from? What has been done to it since it was built? Has it been well looked after? What do we do in it and what are the plans for the future? How do we manage it best?

Not all professionals understand

It’s all about RISK

HIGH RISK OPTIONS Wall Insulation Floor Replacement Changing Ventilation Systems Rendering … Doing Nothing!

LOW RISK OPTIONS Change Old Incandescent and Fluorescent Lighting to LED Lighting Change Old Boilers over to High Efficiency ones Installing PV or Thermal Panels Loft Insulation Install Heat Zones into the Heat Delivery System Timers on Light Circuit in Key Areas Self Closers on Doors Mechanical Ventilation Systems (Humidity Controlled)

BEFORE ANYTHING The Building MUST be in a Good State of Repair Need for: Good Knowledge of the Building Structure ProActive Maintenance Programme Informed Maintenance Team
