C-difficile Power Plan Orders Go-Live June 13, 2017 Questions: contact Dr. Ilboudo, Dr. Eskridge, Linda Johnson or Eileen Phillips

Order alert #1 Patient has not been tested in the last 7 days if negative and 30 days if positive This alerts the provider that there may be alternate causes of diarrhea and to consider these before placing the order Note: order will be cancelled if not collected within 24 hour after the order (rationale: this will diminish opportunity to collect a sample several days later when the patient may not qualify for c-diff testing due to less than 3 diarrheal liquid stools within 24 hours)

Order alert #2 This order will alert the provider that the test has been negative in the last 7 days and will not allow a reorder Also shows provider alternate causes of diarrhea See this guideline also available on the guidelines button in the left hand corner of the alert http://www.jstor.org/stable/10.1086 /676023

Order alert #3 If the patient has tested positive in the last 30 days, order will not be available to be placed We do not test for cure See the guideline also available in the lower left corner of the alert http://www.jstor.org/stable/10.1086 /676023

Order alert #4 C-diff testing will not be available to nursing from 11p-6a C-diff is not an urgent test C-diff testing should be evaluated by the main team taking care of the patient during the day
