The Amazing Baby Brain How many brain cells are being created each day while the child is in the womb? You will find out later
In the womb the brain sends and receives messages about touch, hearing and movement well. Taste, smell and sensitivity to light are developing quickly
How many brain cells ARE YOU BORN WITH? 100 billion That is 100,000,000,000 brain cells at the time of birth.
To put a billion in perspective A billion seconds ago it was about 1959 A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive A billion hours ago it was the stone age A billion days ago no one walked the earth Now you multiple One Billion by 100
Break those cells down my time 111,111,111,111 per month 3,703,703,703.7 per day 154,320,987,.65 per hour 2,572,016.46 per minute 42,866.9410 per second
Most Brain cells are formed while in womb, but not developed fully. Most connections of neurons and strengthening of connecters take place after birth. The way brain cells connect and develop are determined by experiences and environment
Keep in mind that the baby is experiencing things in the womb. Remember that everything that a newborn experiences is new. Everything has the potential to be shocking.
Diary Writing Your assignment is to write a journal entry from the perception of the baby Consider how they would feel leaving the womb, imagine what the first day of life is like. What is good and what is bad?
Baby diary from the babies view point Birthday: Dear Diary, today was terrible. I was hanging out in my room when the room started to close in on me and I was shoved out the trap door that I was only going to use in the case of an emergency. The outside world is an awful place. I almost froze to death. Someone blinded me with the brightest light I have ever seen and before my eyes could adjust to the first vision I ever had I was smacked on the Bum and stabbed in the foot.
As I gasped for my first real breath of stinking cold air someone, who I can only assume hates me, put this sticky gunk in my eyes, so I still have not seen anything worth looking at. Next I was sprayed with water, but was not cleaned well because I still have gunk in my eyes and I can feel a cheesy substance on my head. I was thinking of escape, but those thoughts were cut short.
They then tied me up so I could not move my arms or legs They then tied me up so I could not move my arms or legs. To make matters worse, I am getting hungry and liquids are leaking out of my body from all of my holes. I hope I can go back to my room soon. P.S. I have no language skills so expressing my feelings is impossible.
What can we do? From the moment we know we are pregnant (I say we, but I am not really included) we can make healthy choices. We must remember that babies are controlled by the lower brain. Means that they can’t be trained yet Can’t respond to praise or punishment yet.
