Sight Reading Exercises: Clapping Sight reading exercises with clapping are exercises for which the melody may be examined for 10-15 seconds, and then the rhythm is to be sight read and clapped as accurately as possible. In this course, clapping exercises will be either in 4/4 or 3/4 time, and can contain whole, dotted half, half, dotted quarter, quarter, and eighth notes. Clapping exercises are intended to help develop the skills to sight read in different time signatures, maintain the beat and tempo, and read and recognize patterns, rhythms, and note values.
