ALPHARETTA RECREATION & PARKS DEPARTMENT FALL 2017 ADULT BASKETBALL MANAGER’S PACKET

Manager’s Checklist – Fall 2017 League Breakdown General League Information Playing Line-up Uniform/jersey requirements Non-resident fees Awards and postseason play Player/spectator conduct Managers Checklist must be turned in by each team manager PRIOR to the beginning of the season AND before they receive a game schedule. Check each box off. Make sure you print this in black/white or grayscale. TEAM NAME _______________________ Manager’s Name Manager’s Signature Circle your league night TUE THU I also received a copy of the league rules

General League Information Games are scheduled in 1 hour increments. A regulation game is two 20 minute halves. The clock will only stop during the final two minutes of each half If overtime is needed, overtime is 2 minutes, of which the clock will stop on all whistles Home team determined by league schedule. Each team will have the same amount of games as visitor and home. A 10 minute grace period for 6:30 (or 7:00 if first game) games only. Up to 10 minutes will be taken off the game time

Playing Line-up Line-ups will be on the scoresheets. Prior to starting the game, manager should check the following Names are spelled correctly All players jersey numbers are correct for that game Absent players are crossed out New players are added (to rosters as well) Scoring stats will be kept with time permitting, it’s purely a novelty

Playing Line-up/Roster A minimum of 4 players is needed to start and play a game. If your team drops to 3 players, the game will end via forfeit. Make sure your players are all signed onto and accounted for on your roster. Rosters are final after the 4th played game.

Uniform/Jersey Requirements All jerseys must be the same BASE color i.e. NAVY and BLACK are different colors Numbers must be sewn on, heat-transferred, or screened on, no spray paint, markers, tape, etc. and 6 inches in hieght League staff will determine legality of uniforms, NOT THE OFFICIALS. Pinnies will not be allowed to be worn as substitutes for team’s jerseys. Visiting team will wear pinnies should their be a contrast. Jerseys are required by the second week of games.

QUESTIONS? If you have any questions or concerns regarding illegal players, line-ups and/or uniforms, involving your own team or your opponent, INFORM THE SCOREKEEPERS/STAFF IMMEDIATELY. If you wait until after the game, we can do nothing to resolve any issues. Do not ask the OFFICIALS, they are there to manage the game on the court.

Non-resident Fees A NON-RESIDENT is one who does not live in the CITY Limits of Alpharetta. If you live in the new Cities of Milton and Johns Creek, you are a non-resident. Your address may still say ‘Alpharetta’, but that is the former unincorporated parts and those areas were not and still aren’t in the City Limits. The non-resident fee is $25 per player, per season. If a player is playing multiple nights, they only pay this one time.

Non-resident Fees (cont.) Proof of residency is required. This will be required each season, sorry. If WE can’t determine this on our own, players must provided a property tax bill. If a player does not wish to show proof, they will be considered a non-resident and not permitted to play until $25 has been paid. City of Alpharetta residents pay additional taxes, that non-residents do not. These taxes are used for roads, public services, construction of PARKS, etc.

Post-season Play The top 6 teams in each division are eligible for postseason play Postseason is played time/weather permitting Yes, we have had games ‘iced’ out Tournaments are single elimination Tournament games are not exempt from ‘mercy rule’ Overtimes will be played in two minute increments until a winner is declared.

Awards Regular season champion will receive a team trophy and T-shirts The regular season is tougher to win than the tournament Runner-up will receive a team plaque Tournament champions and runner-ups will receive team plaques. Tournament winners MAY also receive shirts

Player/Spectator Conduct Managers, make sure your players and spectators know the rules! Do not argue with the officials. If a player is ejected from a game, they must exit the building within 90 seconds. If a player is ejected, the player is suspended from playing the next week his/her team plays a game If a player is ejected in the final game of a season, they will serve their suspension in the next season they play for that team or any team.

Player/Spectator Conduct (cont.) If a spectator is acting unruly and asked to leave, they must do so when asked. If any player/spectator that is ejected, and refuses to leave, their team will forfeit the current game being played. There is no smoking/tobacco use permitted anywhere on park property. There is no alcohol permitted in the park.
