Presentation transcript:

Make it a wonderful weekend! Knoelk News Sept. 22, 2017 Specials Monday: Art Tuesday: P.E./Computer lab Wednesday: Art Thursday: P.E. Friday: Art/Library Return library books on Friday. Check for schedules and information on my website. News and Notes Picture day will be Friday, Sept. 29  Please watch for the AIMS fall benchmark reading assessment report, which will be sent home on 9-29-17. Please let me know if you have any questions about this assessment or how to interpret the report. First trimester midterm is Sept. 28 (already!). Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or just want to check in on your child’s progress What we’re working on: Language Arts: This week’s Storytown selection is a reader’s theater titled Neighborhood News. It is a review week, so all skills from the past 4 weeks will be reviewed and practiced. Spelling/phonics: We’ll review short vowels, vowel-consonant-e, and ee/ea patterns. Grammar/writing: This week will be review of the parts of a sentence and the four types of sentences. The students will also continue to develop ideas in writing as they practice writing a paragraph. Math: Unit 2 topics include developing addition strategies such as doubles facts, near doubles facts, and turn around facts. Social Studies: We’ll continue our study of government, its leaders, and our country’s symbols. Science: We also have a couple of experiments involving changing states of matter. Storytown books will come home on Thursday for students to re-read the story and prepare for the comprehension and vocabulary tests. F.Y.I. I apologize for the confusion on the Math HomeLink this week! The Reference Book is an on-line resource available on the Everyday Math website. The website also has all of the HomeLinks, the practice games we play, and information on every math lesson we do. It really is excellent! Find it by going to the Haines website homepage, click on Links, scroll down to Math, click on Everyday Math log in, and enter your child’s log in information. Log in information for all district on-line resources was sent home the first week of school, but is also on my website. Let me know if you need assistance! Make it a wonderful weekend!
