Announcements From now on: If I give class time to work on an essay, THAT’S WHAT YOU DO. I will not accept late work anymore. Either have it COMPLETE on the due date or accept your zero. I will not be accepting partial work either. I will not be rounding up grades at the end of the quarter, not even if you’re at a 79.4%. If the same patterns from last week repeat this week, I will scrap the creative writing unit and we will work on literary analysis from here on out. I will not be printing anymore work out, make arrangements. I will be listing writing specifics and expectations on our class webpage. (http://nsbhigh.com/staff/burnside-Jason) This is your moment, your choice. We can either spend the remaining few weeks we have together having fun and writing (easy) creative stories, OR we can do literary analysis everyday (which is something that most of you desperately need). SO, this is your last chance. This week will determine whether or not we keep the creative writing unit going. If this trend of not working in class on your assignment and also not having a completed product on the due date continues this week we’re DONE. That is not a threat, it is a promise.
Short, Short Stories These are fully structured stories that include an exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and a resolution. However, they are carefully planned an written in order to minimize word count, and leave a lot of inference up to the reader. Typically, these stories begin just before the climax, with little to no explanation as to how we’ve arrived there as readers.
Shortest Short Story - Ernest Hemmingway The shortest story ever written was Ernest Hemmingway’s “Baby Shoes”. It was referred to as the “six word novel”. “For sale: baby shoes, never worn.” - Ernest Hemmingway
