Lessons from Isaiah One Big Issue The nature of true faith: It is humility; it is dependence; it is coming down from all self- confidence; it is resting upon another, and that is Christ alone. (Reeve) May 28, 2017

Psalm 2:1-4 - Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain Psalm 2:1-4 - Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying, “Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.” He who sits in the heavens laughs; the Lord holds them in derision. (Scoff or mocks)

Psalm 115:3 - Our God is in the heavens; He does all that He pleases.

Isaiah 2:5 O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the Lord.

James 4:6 But He gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

Isaiah 2:11-12 The haughty looks of man shall be brought low, and the lofty pride of men shall be humbled, and the Lord alone will be exalted in that day. For the Lord of hosts has a day against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up— and it shall be brought low;

Isaiah 2:17 And the haughtiness of man shall be humbled, and the lofty pride of men shall be brought low, and the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.

Haughtiness Arrogance Snootiness Egotistic Self- importance Conceit Self- exaltation Vanity Big head Superiority Pride

Isaiah 2:20-21 In that day mankind will cast away their idols of silver and their idols of gold, which they made for themselves to worship, to the moles and to the bats, to enter the caverns of the rocks and the clefts of the cliffs, from before the terror of the Lord, and from the splendor of His majesty, when He rises to terrify the earth.

Revelation 6:15-17 Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, for the great day of Their wrath has come, and who can stand?”

Isaiah 2:22 Stop regarding man in whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he?

Isaiah 3:10-11 Tell the righteous that it shall be well with them, for they shall eat the fruit of their deeds. Woe to the wicked! It shall be ill with him, for what his hands have dealt out shall be done to him.

This Is True Galatians 6:7 - Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.

This Is True Luke 6:37-38 - “Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”

This Is True Colossians 3:17 - And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

Isaiah 3:13-14(a) The Lord has taken His place to contend; He stands to judge peoples. The Lord will enter into judgment with the elders and princes of His people:

What Should We Do Then? James 4:10 - Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you. 1 Peter 5:6 - Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you,

For Our Consideration Why is pride such a big deal to God? How does it help to see God in His proper place as Ruler over all? If we are saved by grace why does it matter what we do afterwards? If God really is Who He states He is, should I ever be worried about anything, ever?

Prayer Focus Thank You Lord that You reign over everything Thank You that we do not have to worry, ever. Thank You for Your word that explains Your will for us Thank You for a new day and a glorious future
