What is an entrepreneur? Entrepreneurs start, organize, and manage new businesses Some things I would do as an entrepreneur are: Start new businesses and get them off the ground Acquire investors by presenting business proposals Market the product or service that my business offers Manage employees and other things related to business ownership

About my future career This job is typically done in a place that is related to the product or service, after the business has grown an office is usually where it is managed $50,000-$1,000,000+/year For new businesses, a work week can reach above 80 hours per week, work days can exceed 12 hours For established businesses, a work week can be approximately 45-60 hours per week, but that number can vary

My job has a 0% chance of becoming automated I don’t think my job will be automated because robots don’t have the capacity to be able to create new businesses or identify problems to solve within the world Another reason I don’t think my job will become automated is that a robot cannot determine who the best person for the company to hire would be

Being an entrepreneur would be great for me because… I already have leadership, commitment, persevering, and honesty skills, I am also a hard worker and will not give up when something gets difficult.

I am not quite ready for this career, but I will get there! Some skills I need to improve on are: being less competitive, and tolerating people who are difficult to work with I will get these skills by trying to deal with not always being the best at a particular thing. I will also try to see where people are coming from and understanding their point of view

This is what appeals to me with this career… Being your own boss appeals to me because I do not have to answer to anybody, and I am in control of what I want to do Working my own hours appeals to me because I can choose if I cannot do work that day and I do not have to hope I can get the day off I am sick or something comes up Being able to choose how much I make (to a certain extent) appeals to me because If I want to increase my quality of living, I am the only one who can change that and I have to work hard for it

These are some things I find less appealing about this career… Not always having a steady income doesn’t appeal to me because I do not always know that I will have a paycheck coming in for me to depend on The constant pressure to succeed doesn’t appeal to me because it could be overwhelming

Potential obstacles to getting this career The possible obstacles: Not enough money to fund new businesses My plan to overcome them: Not finding investors Find a secondary or passive source of income that allows me to have money to invest Growing the business in other ways and making people have a good reason for wanting to invest

Potential obstacles to being successful within this career The possible obstacles: Not being able to sell my product or service My plan to overcome them: Find out what the problems are and attempt to fix them Business not being profitable Try to cut the costs of running the business

The training/education required for my career is: No education is required to become an entrepreneur, but it would be a good idea to have a post-secondary degree in business and/or something that has to do with your product or service Many potential clients and business partners may also not take you seriously without a high-level education High School diploma would be the bare necessity

I intend to go to The university of British Columbia for that career The UBC campus is in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada I plan on taking the Entrepreneurship program that is offered At the end of the program, I will receive a Bachelor of Commerce degree The length of the program is 4 years The total cost of the program will be $37,286.80

Financial Plan I am going to pay for my program: I will pay for my education by getting a part-time job, getting numerous scholarships, and receiving money from family

High school courses required Grade 11 courses: English 11, A language 11 or waiver, Pre-calculus 11 or Foundations of Mathematics 12, an approved Science 11 course, an approved Social Studies course Grade 12 courses: English 12 or English 12 First Peoples, Pre-calculus 12, two other approved Grade 12 courses
