Present Perfect(mixing past and present time) USE: Actions from the past that are finished –and events from your life – where no time is given: I’ve been to Paris. I’ve eaten sushi twice. (Note: use simple past if a time is given: I studied French in high school. I went to Paris in 2013.) Things that aren’t finished: We’ve been in class for an hour. I’ve never ridden a horse. I’ve studied English since I was young. I’ve always enjoyed mystery novels. Finished actions from the past that are important now! or recently completed: I think I’ve seen a snake! Wow! You’ve bought some new clothes! Oh no! Have you hurt yourself? I’ve cleaned my room! Commonly used with these words and expressions: for + a time period (for 5 days); since + a point in time (since last Monday); always; never; yet; recently; already; ever; just; so far; up to now
