The Lord’s Holidays Practical Effects 1. These festivals instructed the people that all of life belongs to and is a gift from God time is ordered by God provision for life depends on God worship/rest is the goal of life 5

The Lord’s Holidays Practical Effects 2. These festivals charted the essential aspects of God’s redemptive work deliverance from bondage purging from corruption celebration of new life removal of all defilement entering the fulfillment of God’s promises 6

The Lord’s Holidays Prophetic Fulfillment “Fulfilled” in Christ’s Redemptive Work “here and not yet” – Jesus inaugurated the kingdom but its consummation is still future this “here and not yet” is seen in the fulfillment of the feasts by Jesus 7

The Lord’s Holidays Prophetic Fulfillment 1. Inauguration of Redemption Passover and Unleavened Bread – Jesus’ death delivers us from sin and judgment First Fruits – Jesus’ resurrection is the guarantee of our future, bodily resurrection Pentecost – Jesus poured out the Holy Spirit to form the body of Christ in the new, messianic kingdom 8

The Lord’s Holidays Prophetic Fulfillment 2. Consummation of Redemption Trumpets – Jesus’ coming in power and glory to establish His kingdom Day of Atonement – the removal of all defilement and the entering of God’s immediate presence Booths – the ongoing enjoyment of God in the eternal kingdom (the New Earth) 9

The Lord’s Holidays And the Lord of hosts will prepare a lavish banquet for all the peoples on this mountain; a banquet of aged wine, choice pieces with marrow, and refined aged wine. And on this mountain He will swallow up the covering which is over all peoples, even the veil which is stretched over all the nations. He will swallow up death for all time, and the Lord God will wipe every tear away from all faces, and He will remove he reproach of His people from all the earth; for the Lord has spoken. And it will be said in that day, “Behold, this is our God for whom we have waited that He might save us. This is the Lord for whom we have waited; let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.” – Isaiah 25:6-9 10
