Airport Procedures Guide from Brightspark meets us to check us in Students go through airport security Students have the option to buy breakfast at the airport (using own money, only meal not provided on trip)

Airport Security Follow all directions by TSA agents and chaperones Shoes, belts removed for security checkpoint Liquids and gels in a quart-sized ziploc bag- all containers must be 3 oz or less Stay together If asked to do anything by security, calmly comply. Security may check bags at the gate before boarding the plane. Calmly comply.

What to Pack We will CARRY-ON our luggage- luggage must meet carry-on size requirements Two changes of clothing needed: must meet school uniform policy Any snacks must be non-liquid or gel. Food will be provided and many students buy snacks there. Cell phone (if student has one) Hairbrush/toothbrush Pajamas Comfortable shoes Girls: pack as if you are on your period Any medicines including advil/tylenol/benedryl

What Not to Pack Hotel has hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, bar soap Expensive electronics Shoes you cannot comfortably walk in (or will freak out if they get a smudge) Inappropriate clothing Sunscreen/Bug Spray

Weather Forecast Wednesday: 60% chance of rain, high of 79 Thursday: -- Friday: -- Be prepared- pack clothes that can be layered. Many sites are air conditioned Weather can change by then We have seen temps from 40-100 on this trip

On the Plane/In the Hotel Both the hotel and plane are “regular” travel accommodations, not just for us We need to be respectful of others by being quiet, listening to chaperones, and respecting the space we are in Many people will be on our flight, traveling for business or for other reasons. We may or may not be seated in a group. In the hotel- the room next to you might be occupied by someone who is staying at the hotel for business or other reasons.

Expected Behaviors We will be respectful of our surroundings- many of them will be in honor of soldiers, families, or individuals who gave their life for our freedom We are judged by your behavior as individuals, a group, and a school We will remove hats/headphones at tour sites as a sign of respect Our conversations, choice of words, and pictures will be respectful
