Twitter Twitter has created an social impact on Journalism, it’s a new type of media that allows Journalist to release news stories without having to publish news articles on print or online. Twitter has only had a short life span of eight years. However in such a short time has successfully made an impact on the way Journalist use social media to report news worthy stories.

On average there are 500 million tweets per day. 40% of people don’t even tweet from twitter however use twitter as news feed to proved them updates about hot topics their passion about. 80% of people in the UK are active users on the mobile phones.

Social media has transformed newsrooms and speeding up newsgatherings Social media has transformed newsrooms and speeding up newsgatherings. Twitter interaction has made media outlets rely on crowd sourced content to help provide a real time information. This could be for example changes being made by the government that could impact on society, or a death of a celebrity that would be considered break news. This is done to get reactions and public opinion during break news stories.

Examples of Journalists using Twitter to report news. There a several journalists that I have research and followed there work over the years. One example is a reporter Kristin Dos Santos who works for E! News online an American entertainment newscast that is mainly about reporting on celebrity news and gossip along with previewing upcoming films and television shows. She uses her twitter to interact with fans, and use that relationship to report pieces of news worthy stories to her followers.

Facebook Another Journalist that I follow, is Anderson Cooper is a primary anchor of the CNN news show Anderson Cooper 360 . He normally broadcast live on location for break news stories. I like how he uses his Facebook account to report breaking news and imports videos, images etc.

Vine https://vine.co/v/bYBHLOtZurt Vine is 6 second video clip that loops endlessly, a lot of journalist are uses Vine as a resource to report break news! However instead of using content Vine is just video clip, this is an easier, less time consuming and interactive way to produce Journalism.
