Welcome Parents and Students Dual Credit Counselor: Lorena Tidwell (210) 356-1421 N.E.I.S.D College & Tami Shaw (210) 407-0319 Career Readiness tshaw@neisd.net Coordinator:

What is Dual Credit? The Dual Credit Program at Madison allows a student to enroll at San Antonio College (SAC); St. Phillips; and(or) Palo Alto to earn college level credit while at the same time fulfilling high school academic requirements.  Dual Credit classes at Madison are full year courses. Students can take up 14 dual credit courses throughout high school equal to no more than 42 college credit hours.

Differences between Dual Credit and AP AP DC In May, AP exams are administered. Student must score within a certain range to possibly earn college credit. Some colleges do not accept AP credit. Students must pay to test. DC Once a dual credit course is completed and a passing grade has been earned, a student MAY be awarded college credit. Colleges decide what credit you will earn for your work. For example, you may be awarded a science elective instead of biology.

Texas Success Initiative The TSI Exam is a computerized placement test that is a Texas approved instrument for assessing a student's readiness to enroll in a college freshman entry-level course. Students test in areas of reading, writing and math. The TSI Exam is required, unless you are already exempt. Results help to identify students’ academic strengths as well as areas where a student may need more development to succeed in college.
