Colonies: Regions Foldable The 13 Colonies

Constructing the foldable 1. Stack 2 sheets of paper together, using the “hot dog” orientation. 2. Fold the top half down to make a long rectangle. Staple the sheets together along the fold. Open the flipbook, creating a neat crease on each page inside at the staple line. 3. Divide the flipbook into 3 separate sections by making 2 cuts about 3 inches long. Be careful not to cut all the way through the fold at the top.

Colonies foldable cover Cut out the 3 region maps. Glue the map to the cover of the appropriate section: left section as New England Colonies, middle section as the Middle Colonies, right section as the Southern Colonies. Color each region’s map a different color.

Top half of first inside page – Geography Label the left section as New England Geography, the middle section as the Middle Colonies’ Geography, and the right section as the Southern Colonies’ Geography.

Geography/climate New England – thin, rocky soil, rocky harbors – good for ships, long, cold winters; Subsistence farming Middle Colonies – good, fertile soil for farming, rolling hills, mild climate Southern – good soil for farming, long hot summers
