Year 10 Subject Selection – MUSIC 2

Course Description . In Semester 2, you continue to develop as a musician by expanding your knowledge of musical styles and techniques to build your skills as a soloist or band musician. You now have basic music reading and theory skills, some music analysis vocabulary and you continue to broaden these.

Why Study this? Work Tasks Assessment tasks Use YouTube to listen to a variety of artists related to your instrument and evaluate their performances using specific vocabulary Develop general skills on your instrument Choose and rehearse a program with your group and/or as a soloist Expand your music language and notation skills Compose a song/work based on ideas from one of your performance pieces. A folio of performance reviews A composition for your instrument/band Perform 2 songs and demonstrate technical skills A written and Aural exam on music theory and Analysis.

Subject pathway…. Year 10 Music 2 prepares you for VCE Music Performance.

Extra activities/costs? It is expected that you will have instrumental music lessons in school or the wider community.
