Traditionally, the waste industry looked like this flow diagram: products are manufactured, used, discarded, and either recycled or landfilled. A number of years ago, WM began transitioning to a different paradigm that recognized that materials have inherent value and THAT value needs to be captured to create another GOOD- not to be at the end of a value chain.
