Welcome to advanced algebra/ trigonometry with ms. sa Course introduction/syllabus/expectations

What’s this course about? Strengthening Algebra skills and concepts Emphasis on solving equations and problem solving Functions studied will include: Polynomials Rational Exponential Logarithmic Complete course of Trigonometry

What expectations does ms. Sa have for me? Be on time for class Be prepared for everything Be respectful to everyone Be positive Be ready to learn

What do i need/Bring for this course? 1 or 1 ½ inch binder with three dividers and loose leaf paper Section 1: Do Nows Section 2: Notes and Classwork Section 3: Homework Section 4: Returned Tests and Quizzes Pencils, erasers, highlighters RECOMMENDED Graphing calculator [such as a TI 84 or better] Textbook (Must be covered—NO ADHESIVE)

What do I do when I enter Ms. Sa’s classroom? There will always be a Do Now to complete Grab a Weekly Do Now sheet every Monday and keep it until the end of the week (counts as classwork) Always have homework out and ready to be checked Cell phones must be SILENT and AWAY at all times! Cell phones may only be used with my permission

What does ms. Sa expect from my homework? Homework will be assigned in class and posted on my website Homework must be completed every time it is assigned! Write the original problem along with all work completed Even if you don’t know what to do…try something! Homework is checked for effort. 2 = Attempted every problem with proper effort 1 = Made a slight effort toward completing the problems 0 = No effort was put into the homework Late homework is NEVER accepted unless a serious issue has come up and discussed with me.

What happens with tests and quizzes? Quizzes are given throughout a chapter and may be announced. Tests are given at the end of each chapter and will always be announced. If you fail a test, you may submit an application for a retest. You must give a valid description as to why you failed the test. Your retake application may not always be granted! Your two test scores will be averaged together to produce your new score Every quiz and test must be completed in pencil. No excuses.

How am I graded?

Can I get extra credit? Every test will have an extra credit question. Bathroom/Hall Pass opportunities You get 4 set passes per marking period that you are allowed to use for bathroom, hall, etc. If you do not use those passes you can cash each one of them in for 1 extra point on your test average. **** You are not restricted to those 4 passes only per marking period. They are just the only ones that provide you with extra credit points.
