Fractions Centers Play Fair Shares Bread Stick game two ways (1) With unifix cubes (2) Without supporting materials – record work with drawings or symbols Play Build It! Game 3 ways (1) Cuisenaire Rods (2) Pattern Blocks (3) 1 inch tiles Build It activity cards were printed by KCM as the file called “Fraction Explore other settings level 4 purple”. The student directions for this entry were not ready in time for KCM to print. They are in the day 12 folder in the folder title “Leader print” The hope is to eventually expand these activities into complete task groups that will parallel the fraction squares task group. Option 1 – Have materials prepared so that teachers can rotate through 4 centers – playing the bread stick game & all 3 versions of the Build it games. Option 2 – Have teachers use their own materials. Provide each teacher with their Cuisenaire rods, Pattern Blocks, directions & activity cards. (Unifix cubes and tiles provided previously). Teacher assemble & play games during the PD. Bread stick game will be posted on site. Build it cards will be posted on Marti site for now. They will be removed if/when the activities get posted on the KNP website.

Adding Machine Tape I think you will have enough roll to provide at least one roll of adding machine tape per teacher. (Use rolls supplied initially for leader “preview” materials along with materials ordered for the actual training.)
Fraction Bricks Fraction Brick Directions & Handout Fold, label and then cut paper strips to make fraction bricks as directed. Complete the recording sheet. At least one set of strips is provided per teacher. Provide some kind of envelope for holding cut strips. Give teachers time to complete the activity. A teacher may decide to have all kits created with the same color strip used for each step so the kits are uniform for class discussion purposes. If teachers prefer not to write on the master, they can put the paper in a sheet protector. This activity will be posted on the website. Provide a white catalog envelope – teachers may put directions on the folder and store the recording sheet & bricks inside.
