2014-2020 7 former EU programes merged into “Erasmus+”

Youth in Action and Erasmus were one of the most effective EU programmes

Vocational education and training Higher education Vocational education and training Schools Adult education Youth Sport ERASMUS+ IS FOR...

BUDGET ALLOCATION PER SECTOR Total budget: 14.774 billion euro

WHY ERASMUS+? Education, training and youth: a changing landscape Deep economic crisis and high youth unemployment Societal crisis (intolerance, social exclusion decreased well-being and autonomy) - Almost ¼ of European citizens are at the risk of social exclusion and poverty! Vacancies exist, but skills gaps and low employability of graduates - 6m young people are unemployed, but there’re over 2m job vacancies! Growing requirement for high skilled jobs A global competition for talent: internationalisation of education Extraordinary broadening of learning offer and potential of ICT Complementarity between formal, informal and non formal learning Need for closer links with world of work Contributes to European Union Policy: Europe 2020, EU Strategy for Youth, Renewed framework for European cooperation in the youth field (2010-2018) WHY ERASMUS+?

AIMS and CARACTERISTICS Improving skills and employability Supporting the modernisation of education, training and youth systems Develop cooperation between different sectors and with the world of work, especially with companies Simplification of application rules and procedures European added value Increased focus on results and impact of projects supported AIMS and CARACTERISTICS

GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF E+ the objectives of the Europe 2020 Strategy, including the headline education target ; the objectives of the strategic framework for European cooperation in education and training (ET 2020), including the corresponding benchmarks; the sustainable development of Partner Countries in the field of higher education; the overall objectives of the renewed framework for European cooperation in the youth field (2010-2018); the objective of developing the European dimension in sport, in particular grassroots sport, in line with the EU work plan for sport; the promotion of European values in accordance with Article 2 of the Treaty on the European Union. GENERAL OBJECTIVES OF E+

SIMPLY, ERASMUS+ AIMS TO:  Boost skills and employability  Modernise education, training and youth work  Focus on young people, especially those with fewer opp. SIMPLY, ERASMUS+ AIMS TO:

Improve the level of key competences and skills of young people, including those with fewer opportunities, as well as to promote participation in democratic life in Europe and the labour market, active citizenship, intercultural dialogue, social inclusion and solidarity, in particular through increased learning mobility opportunities for young people, those active in youth work or youth organisations and youth leaders, and through strengthened links between the youth field and the labour market. Youth Objective 1

Foster quality improvements in youth work, in particular through enhanced cooperation between organisations in the youth field and/or other stakeholders Youth Objective 2

Complement policy reforms at local, regional and national level and to support the development of knowledge and evidence-based youth policy as well as the recognition of non-formal and informal learning, in particular through enhanced policy cooperation, better use of EU transparency and recognition tools and the dissemination of good practices; Youth Objective 3

Enhance the international dimension of youth activities and the role of youth workers and organisations as support structures for young people in complementarity with the European Union's external action, in particular through the promotion of mobility and cooperation between stakeholders from Programme and Partner Countries and international organisations and through targeted capacity building in Partner Countries. Youth Objective 4

In 2016, in the selection of projects emphasis will be put on: • reaching out to marginalised young people, promoting diversity, intercultural and inter-religious dialogue, common values of freedom, tolerance and respect of human rights as well as on projects enhancing media literacy, critical thinking and sense of initiative of young people as well as • equipping youth workers with competences and methods needed for transferring the common fundamental values of our society particularly to the hard to reach young people and preventing violent radicalisation of young people as well. NEW OBJECTIVES IN 2016

In this regard, taking into account the critical context in Europe -and considering the fact that youth work, non-formal learning activities and volunteering can significantly contribute to address the needs of refugees, asylum seekers and migrants and/or increase awareness about this issue within local communities – particular attention will also be given to support youth mobility projects involving or focusing on the refugees/asylum seekers and migrants. NEW OBJECTIVES IN 2016

CHANGES IN 2017 PROGRAMME GUIDE The main changes in 2017 programme guide include:  start of Eastern European partnership (UA, GE, AM, AZ, MD, BY) and Tunisia Youth Window  One deadline on 8th of March for Balkan and EE window  Sector Skills Alliances action which is under Key Action 2 from 2017 will be managed by EACEA  Throughout the Guide, a special focus is put on encouraging projects supporting social inclusion (notably of refugees and migrants), as well as preventing radicalisation.
