Assessment criteria for Unit 1 AO4a PASS You give a basic description of a few of the travel and tourism organisations in the area of York. MERIT You give a clear description of a variety of travel and tourism organisations in the area of York. DISTINCTION You provide a detailed description of a variety of well chosen travel and tourism organisations in the area of York.

Accommodation in York Hints: Have at least two but probably 3 or 4 examples of DIFFERENT types of accommodation a tourist might choose. Make it clear why a tourist might choose that type of accommodation. (price, location, type of tourist/visitor,). Add in more slides with the same title if you need to.

Catering in York Hints: Again try to include at least two but probably more. Show that you understand why a visitor might go to that type of catering establishment (speed/luxury/style etc). Add in another slide with the same title if need to . Try and include at least one place that you can only find in York.

Visitor attractions in the area of York Hints: You must include at least three but probably more. Try to give a variety – man-made/natural/historical etc. There’s lots to do in the area!

Transport in the area of York. Hints: You need to include information about how visitors arrive AND how they get about in York itself. This section needs at least 3 examples and show why they might be useful for different types of visitors: family/single person/business/disabled.

Travel Agents in York Hints: There are a variety of travel agents in York – perhaps you can find a list, then give detailed information about two different types of agencies.

Guiding and information in York Hints: There are different ways for visitors to get information about York – before and during their visit. Try to give at least 3 different examples.
