General introduction and History Background: The Al-Midra Complex is unique, dynamic, technologically advanced and environmentally aware. The complex can be described as an “intelligent building.” ENPRO, Televic's partner in the Eastern Province has installed 3 meeting rooms with 90 "Confide Wired" discussion units in total. In each of the rooms a "Polycom" video conference system is integrated. Al-Midra Tower is a project related to Saudi Aramco Company.

Building Location: Building Type: Tower, Offices building

Vision and mission Our commitment to remain the world leader in the production of petroleum-based energy is complemented by our commitment to help solve a host of pressing issues. We believe we can make a difference wherever we do business by investing in innovation and entrepreneurship, creating educational opportunities, powering economic progress, increasing environmental awareness, and working in partnership for energy sustainability. As a company, Saudi Aramco will never remain static. The company’s future depends on a desire to grow, on visionary planning, commitment to excellence and hard work. These ingredients went into the construction of the Al-Midra Complex.

Objectives and purposes: Shaping our business portfolio through establishing an integrated value chain approach in our crude oil mix, further develop the Kingdom’s unconventional gas resources and become a leading global chemicals and refining company. Supporting the Kingdom in building a vibrant energy industry by promoting an energy efficient economy, developing alternative energy options, and building a technology portfolio. Delivering an agile, flexible, and efficient organization to achieve operational excellence and world-class reliability and safety performance through improved operational efficiency, agile decision-making and budgeting activities, insightful performance measurements, and business process improvement. Building capacity, knowledge, and skills to improve our processes and systems of leadership selection and development, performance evaluation, innovation, and research and development. We will take the lead in developing a knowledge-based economy in Saudi Arabia.

Designer & Design Concept: Great efforts were made in planning the interior design of Al-Midra to ensure it provided a sustainable office environment. Employees will enjoy the efficiency in space planning, high-quality materials and an ergonomic design that allows personnel to feel comfortable and safe in every aspect of their workplace. The services center contains a gymnasium for women, while the nearby multi-purpose facility, which is also part of the Al-Midra Complex, has a gymnasium for men, so that everyone has a convenient place for exercise before or after work. The multi-purpose facility also houses a 500-seat auditorium and multi-purpose room. The auditorium is world-class and can be used for meetings, presentations and conventions.

Critical Opinion: Elevators: The 16 elevators in the office tower are controlled by a group control system that maximizes efficiency and gets passengers to their destinations faster with less crowding. Solar shaded parking: Revolutionary new technology uses solar panels, doubling as sunshades over the 4,500 parking spaces, to supply 10 megawatts of energy. Reflective exterior glass: Reflective, low-emissivity glass on Al-Midra Tower’s exterior, together with the silver aluminum cladding, provides internal thermal control. CO2 sensors: CO2 sensors measure carbon dioxide levels and monitor indoor air quality. This enables fresh-air intake tailored to the needs of the occupants.
