syllabus and rules THIS IS A PACE HIGH SCHOOL ELECTIVE COURSE BEING TAUGHT AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL LEVEL. It is an online course and upon passing at the end of the year, students will receive a credit for this elective, as well as satisfy the online credit required for high school graduation in Santa rosa county . Therefore, students MUST be self-motivated and hard workers. I will not be instructing and/or leading the students, but will be here to facilitate their success in the course. I know you will receive numerous handouts tonight, but mine is especially important because I am not here to highlight important points and/or answer any of your questions. So please read through it before your child returns to school on m0nday.

Course requirements STUDENTS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO HAVE MICROSOFT OFFICE 2016 AT HOME UNLESS THEY GET BEHIND AND NEED TO CATCH UP. I DO REQUIRE STUDENTS TO KEEP UP WITH THE PACING GUIDE EACH WEEK, AND I WOULD PREFER THEY WORK ON THEIR COURSEWORK IN THIS LAB ONLY. OF COURSE, CIRCUMSTANCES MAY ARISE WHERE A STUDENT NEEDS TO COME IN BEFORE OR AFTER SCHOOL TO CATCH UP AND/OR THEY CAN WORK FROM HOME IN THESE INSTANCES.

DIT coursework Students will work in The Dit course through a pearson website. All (MICROSOFT OFFICE) work will be accomplished through this pearson product. When we register on pearson to begin the course, students will need a valid email address or use a parent email. This email address is a requirement in the registration process. Fyi-Usually it takes about a week or two to get up and running in pearson. Students will use a different website to perfect their keyboarding skills and we will begin using that website the first week of school.

MY WEBSITE WWW.SMSHAYNES.WEEBLY.COM STUDENTS WILL HAVE 24/7 ACCESS TO MY WEBSITE TO VIEW THEIR PACING GUIDE AND COURSE ANNOUNCEMENTS. THE GUIDE WILL BE UPDATED FREQUENTLY AND I REQUIRE STUDENTS TO VIEW IT AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH CLASS PERIOD, EVERY DAY. A STUDENT WILL NEED TO SEE ME asap IF HE/SHE IS FALLING BEHIND. STUDENTS MUST KEEP UP WITH THE PACE OF THE COURSE TO ENSURE THEY WILL COMPLETE ALL REQUIRED COMPONENTS. WWW.SMSHAYNES.WEEBLY.COM

LASTLY… OPEN DOOR POLICY I DEFINITELY HAVE AN OPEN DOOR POLICY IN MY CLASSRROOM AND WILL BE HAPPY TO ANSWER ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS THROUGHTOUT THE SCHOOL YEAR. HOWEVER, I WANT YOU TO KEEP IN MIND THIS IS A HIGH SCHOOL COURSE AND WILL BE AN EXELLENT OPPORTUNITY FOR maturity and GROWTH IN YOUR CHILD. LET’S TRY TO LET THEM TAKE CARE OF ISSUES WITH ME AND VICE-VERSA. IF EITHER OF US DON’T GET THE RESULTS WE ARE EXPECTING, THEN WE WILL TAKE THE CONTACT A STEP FURTHER.

Thank you for coming to orientation This afternoon and I look forward to the wonderful school year ahead.
