Poetry Final Due Monday 12/3

Create a Thesis and Explore a Topic Choose two poems to compare/contrast utilizing poetic devices. Print out or review the power point presentation shown. They can be found on my website. Write a thesis. For example: Both “The Man He Killed” and “Dolce Et Decorum Est” involve the conflict of war; however, while the speaker in “Dolce-” employs irony, the narrator in “The Man-” speaks the truth. .

Construct your Essay Construct your essay. There is no page requirement or limit. However, you should prove your point in your essay. For example in the essay written from the thesis above: Body Paragraph 1: Compare the conflict of war in both poems. Discuss the lack of glorification that the author’s utilize. Body Paragraph 2: Discuss the irony of “Dolce,” along with the author’s purpose for employing this device. Body Paragraph 3: Contrast “The Man-” and how rather having the character read between the lines, the author points out the irony of war

Mirroring Choose a third poem to mirror. This poem should contain the same amount of lines and follow the rhyme scheme of the chosen poem. It should be about a different subject but have the same theme. It should contain all 10 literary devices that were identified in the original poem.
