Setting Time: During World War II (Global 1939-1945) Location: A deserted island (evacuated from England)

Allegory: is a work with two levels of meaning, a literal one and a symbolic one. In an allegorical work, characters, objects, settings, and events represent abstract qualities.

Point of view: refers to the narrative perspective from which events in a story or novel are told. Third person omniscient narrator: the narrator is an all-knowing, objective observer who stands outside the action and reports what different characters are thinking.

Three Types of Irony Situational: is a contrast between what is expected to happen and what actually does happen.

Three Types of Irony Dramatic: occurs when readers know more about a situation or a character in a story than the characters do.

Three Types of Irony Verbal: occurs when someone states one thing and means another.
