Course Description Year 9 Games For Life is aimed at students who enjoy recreational activities more than competitive team games. The unit will cover games that: Can be played competitively or recreationally Can be played by males and females Can be played throughout your life at all ages Eg. tennis, golf, archery, table tennis, badminton, croquet, lawn bowls
Why Study this? Work Tasks Assessment tasks Organise and run suitable warm up & cool down activities Participate in skill development drills Participate in modified games to develop understanding of rules and strategies Active participation Demonstrate understanding of basic rules and strategies in games played Undertake various roles eg. coach, umpire, scorer etc
Subject pathway…. Year 9 Games For Life can lead to: Yr 10 Physical Education (Human Movement) VCE Units in Physical Education Increasing student knowledge of careers that have a Health, Physical Education, Sport and Fitness Industry focus
Extra activities Some lessons may involve an excursion to use local community sporting facilities eg. tennis courts, squash/racquetball centre.
