Introduction Working-age “welfare” is the benefits (money) which is weekly supplied by the UK government with people who is in working-age including Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), Incapacity Benefit (IB) or Income Support (IS), Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), and Disability Benefits (DLA). (Joseph Rowntree Foundation, 2010)

Context According to The Guardian (2013), 20.3 million families are obtaining some kind of welfare (64% of all families), of those people, 8.7 million are pensioners in the UK. Solutions Introducing Universal Credit Introducing Personal Independence Payment Introducing a cap on the amount of benefits working age people can receive Reassessing incapacity benefits recipients for Employment and Support Allowance Improving the Work Capability Assessment Making sure housing support is fair and affordable (The Department for Work and Pensions, 2013)
