EDUCATION SERVICES Compliance Survey APRIL 18, 2013

Review the purpose of compliance survey Objectives Review the purpose of compliance survey Discuss the frequency of surveys Outline compliance survey required records Identify likely procedures during survey Review survey findings/referrals

Purpose of Compliance Survey Advise institutions of laws & regulations governing VA payments Prevent legal deficiencies Prevent legal violations Clarify legal and procedural requirements Identify and correct discrepancies when observed

Survey Expectations Frequency Record Availability Law makes provisions for annual compliance survey reviews Historically surveys have been conducted every 2 – 3 years. Currently policy advisement: reasonable to expect annual surveys if there is an active veteran population. Make files physically or electronically available - 38 USC 3690 (c) Minimum of 3 years after completion of a program
