Summary of Final CUE Recommendations for Soil Uses of MB (t) Country and Sector Nomination for 2016 Final Rec. for 2016 Nomination for 2017 Final Rec. for 2017 Australia Strawberry runners   29.76 [29.76] Canada 5.261 [Not Rec.] Argentina Tomato (pepper) Strawberry fruit 100 (Rev 75) 70 (Rev 58) [71.25] [58.00] China Ginger, open field Ginger, protected 90 24 [78.75] [21] Mexico Raspberry runners 64.960 56.018 [43.529] [41.428] TOTAL 367.978 [313.957] 35.021 MOP27 Dubai, 2015

Final CUE Recommendation for MB use (tonnes) in 2017 for Canadian Strawberry Runners Sector CUN for 2017 Final Recommendation for 2017 Strawberry runners 5.261 t [Not Recommended] Final Recommendation for 2017 - Not Recommended. The Party provided further information after the OEWG, but MBTOC considers that the CUN did not meet the requirements of Dec. IX/6 b (iii) for ‘appropriate effort’ Groundwater studies for a key alternative chloropicrin are still pending and no detailed research program on alternatives is in place MOP27 Dubai, 2015

Final CUE Recommendation for MB use (tonnes) in 2016 for Argentina Sector CUN for 2016 Final Recommendation for 2016 Tomato 100 (Rev 75 t) [71.25 t] Final Recommendation for 2016: Reduced 5% to 71.25 t After the OEWG, the Party revised the requested amount from 100 to 75 tonnes to conform with MBTOCs standard presumptions without barrier films. MBTOC accepted the reduced amount, but considers alternatives are also possible on a small portion (5%) of the nomination (including resistant plants, grafting, 1,3-D/Pic). MBTOC considers rapid adoption of these alternatives can be made in future years. MOP27 Dubai, 2015

Final CUE Recommendation for MB use (tonnes) in 2016 for Argentina Sector CUN for 2016 Final Recommendation for 2016 Strawberry fruit 70 Rev (58 t) [58 t] Final Recommendation for 2016: 58 tonnes After the OEWG the Party revised the CUN from 70 to 58 tonnes to conform to standard presumptions without barrier films. MBTOC accepted the revised dosage rate (26 g/m2) and that available alternatives were either presently unsuitable for the nomination or not registered. MBTOC urges the Party to provide more extensive information on the economics and infeasibility of alternatives in any future nomination. MOP27 Dubai, 2015

Issues Parties are reminded: That any A5 Party applying for CUNs in future years is required to provide an Accounting Framework - Dec Ex. 1/4 (9f) identifying stocks of MB and a National Management Strategy due 1 February, 2016 - Dec Ex. 1/4(3e). That strict timelines shown each year in the Final CUN report need to be followed to allow MBTOC time to fully assess submissions. Ie. CUNs are required by January 24th 2016. MOP27 Dubai, 2015
