Philippians 4:10-11 I rejoiced greatly in the Lord that at last you renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you were concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 

1. I can’t sustain joy without learning to be content in my circumstances.

Philippians 4:12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 

1. I can’t sustain joy without learning to be content in my circumstances. 2. It is easy to get off track with too little or too much. Both have higher demands.

Proverbs 30:8-9 Keep falsehood and lies far from me;     give me neither poverty nor riches,     but give me only my daily bread.  Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you     and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’ Or I may become poor and steal,     and so dishonor the name of my God.

Philippians 4:13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

Moreover, as you Philippians know, in the early days of your acquaintance with the gospel, when I set out from Macedonia, not one church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving, except you only;  for even when I was in Thessalonica, you sent me aid more than once when I was in need.

Philippians 4:17-18 Not that I desire your gifts; what I desire is that more be credited to your account. I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. 

4. The secret is to want what I already have in Christ. 5. Obedient giving never escapes God.

Philippians 4:19 And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.

Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

5. Obedient giving never escapes God. 6. God is a great giver when it comes to my needs.

Philippians 4:20-22 To our God and Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen. Greet all God’s people in Christ Jesus. The brothers and sisters who are with me send greetings. All God’s people here send you greetings, especially those who belong to Caesar’s household.

6. God is a great giver when it comes to my needs. 7. Living out of control in the hands of Jesus with people I can’t change changes everything.

Philippians 4:23 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit. Amen.

Contentment isn’t found in manipulating everyone into the place I want Contentment isn’t found in manipulating everyone into the place I want. It’s being with Him in the place that I am in and realizing I don’t know much.

The summary: 1. The single mind. 2. The submissive mind. 3. The spiritual mind. 4. The secure mind.
