Urine-Diversion Toilets For the UD toilets, the urine is separated from the feces by the seat. The feces drop through the hole into a drum while the urine is channeled forward into a hole where it is connected to a PVC pipe or a flexible tube that carries it into a soakaway pit. After each use, the user covers the feces by dropping some of the sawdust or bagas into the hole. Doing this has three benefits: 1) reduces smell 2)reduces fly-breeding and 3)aids in the composting of the feces. The seats are based on a model that we brought from Sweden but we have had a local company, Tank Solid, developing them for us.
