Colleges in Rhode Island     Private Colleges can give anyone they want a scholarship and don't have too increase tutions for undocumented students.     At Rhode Island public colleges undocumented students are required to pay 3 times as much as a documented Rhode Island resident. Private colleges Brown University  Bryant University Johnson and Whales University Salve Regina University Roger Williams University Rhode Island School of Design Public colleges   Community College of Rhode Island Rhode Island College  University of Rhode Island

Scholarships and opportunities Undocumented students can apply to the MLK scholarship at Providence College, CSS profile is required CCRI waives for certain numbers of undocumented students to get in-state tuition. Can apply for the Tam Tran Scholarship Can apply for the Ceaser Chavez Scholarship Trial and Error helped us learn about more opportunities

College Process for Undocumented Students 1.Students should:    -Complete College Board Profile.     -Sign up and take SAT's.    -Brainstorm and start thinking about colleges.  2.DO NOT fill FAFSA (Federal Financial Aid)     -Undocumented students can get charged with fraud and get deported.     - This will negatively impact the chances of becoming citizens later on. 3.Complete CSS & Statement of Financial Need.     *ONLY if the parents of the students filed their taxes.          Undocumented students can still go to college! You should give them as much support possible and help them with their emotional struggles. agy

Be Creative! Although it is hard for undocumented students to go to college because of the cost, there are many ways to encourage them to raise money.  Some ideas to fund raise are: -Create events such as dances, raffles, etc. -Writing letters to family members, and ask them for financial support. There are many ways to help undocumented students! How will you help them out?!

Emotional Support How can you help support undocumented students emotionally?      Senior year is usually the most challenging year for most seniors, but it is more challenging for undocumented students because they have to worry about the stuggles of getting their college education. But here are some ways that you can help them emotionally... Depression-help these students to become relieved and inform them that there is a way out. Stress-let them know that they are not alone. More emotional support-help them to build a higher self-esteem for more positive expectations. Trust and be trusted- try to build a good relationship with the students so that they can be more open with you  Contact Antonio at ideasforNE@yahoo.com
