THE ARTHRITIS FOUNDATION ACCORDING TO SURVEY CONDUCTED BY THE ARTHRITIS FOUNDATION

80% of 75 yrs &older suffer from OA

INDIA 60 80% 40% BY 2025 MILLION May have OA cases Of the 65 & above population will suffer from wear and tear of joints 80% People are likely to suffer from severe OA leading to COMPLETE DISABILITY

WHAT IS OSTEOARTHRITIS?

►In the knee joint, there is a layer of smooth cartilage on the lower end of the femur (thighbone), the upper end of the tibia (shinbone) and the undersurface of the kneecap (patella). ► This cartilage serves as a cushion and allows for smooth motion of the knee. ► Arthritis is a wearing away of this smooth cartilage. ► Eventually rubbing bone against bone causing pain, swelling and stiffness.

RISK FACTORS HERIDITY AGEING WOMAN AFTER MENOPAUSE OVERUSE OF KNEE JOINTS OBESITY RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIS OR GOUT KNEE INJURIES

SYMPTOMS ► PAIN- particularly when you’re continuously moving your knee. ►STIFFNESS- especially after rest. ►HARD SWELLING- caused by Osteophytes. ►SOFT SWELLING- caused by extra fluid in the joint. ►CREPITUS- a creaking, crunching, grinding sensation when you move the joint ► DECREASE IN MOVEMENT- due to weak muscles and instable joint structure ►DEFORMITY- VARUS/VALGUS

WHY REHABILITATION IS ESSENTIAL? Onset of OA Reduced activity Weight gain Health declines Major medical problems According to studies conducted :- ►1 in 4 adults with arthritis also has HEART DISEASE. ► 90% are OVERWEIGHT ► 40% suffer from HYPERTENSION ► 30% suffer from DEPRESSION ► 19 % have CHRONIC RESPIRATORY CONDITIONS ► 16% suffer from DIABETES

R TREATMENT EARLY LIFESTYLE CHANGES INTERMEDIATE LATE SURGERY RELIEVE PAIN RESTORE FUNCTION REDUCE DISABILITY REHABILITATION EARLY LIFESTYLE CHANGES EXERCISE/ YOGA WEIGHT LOSS PAIN RELIEF THERAPIES NUTRITIONAL SUPPLIMENTS INTERMEDIATE MEDICATION PAIN RELIEVERS & ANTI INFLAMATTORY DRUGS BRACES SUPPORTS PHYSIOTHERAPY LATE SURGERY ARTHROSCOPY ALLIGNMENT CORRECTIVE SURGERY TOTAL/PARTIAL KNEE REPLACEMENT SURGERY

CHANGES IN LIFESTYLE ICE PACKS & HEATING PADS DIET ANTI INFLAMATTORY FOOD VITAMIN C,D,E OMEGA- 3 REDUCE WEIGHT MASSAGE AVOID SALTY AND OILY FOOD BRACES & SUPPORTS YOGA & EXCERCISE

WHY KNEE BRACES? CORRECTS MISALIGNED BONES OF THE KNEE JOINT REDUCES PRESSURE ON THE SOFT TISSUE DELAYS/ PREVENTS SURGERY NON INVASIVE NON NARCOTIC COST EFFECTIVE REDUCES PAIN & SWELLING PROVIDES STRENGTH AND SUPPORT BUILDS CONFIDENCE

HOW OUR BRACE WORKS? DURABLE BUT LIGHT WEIGHT FRAME PROVIDES STRENGTH & STABILITY NEOPRENE PADDING PROVIDES THERAPEUTIC WARMTH WHICH REDUCES PAIN AND PROMOTES HEALING SPECIAL HINGES REDISTRIBUTES WEIGHT TO HEALTHY PARTS OF THE KNEE & PREVENTS MOVEMENT OF THE KNEE IN DIRECTIONS THAT CAUSE INJURY SOFT AIR CONDYLES MAXIMIZE THE COMFORT AND MINIMIZE BRACE MIGRATION ADJUSTABLE VELCRO STRAPS HOLDS THE BRACE IN PLACE & ENSURE A PERFECT FIT DIFFERENT STRAP LOCATIONS DEPENDING ON WHERE YOU NEED SUPPORT QUICK RELASE BUCKLES MAKE IT EASY TO PUT THE BRACE ON & OFF ITS COMPLEX BUT STYLISH DESIGN BOOSTS YOUR CONFIDENCE
