STUDY AREA
BASIS OF THE STUDY Increasing population in the Philippines. Metro Cebu for this study. Traffic and transport problem occurrence Effect of transportation problems to the population

THE PROBLEM DEFINED Increasing traffic congestion Evaluating and addressing traffic demands and problems Inadequacy of current modes of public transport
OBJECTIVES To apply the traditional urban transport planning process to the city of Cebu and its neighboring cities; To make use of both primary and secondary data in the calibration process of road network flows as well as in the forecast of future traffic demand; To determine the impact of proposed sustainable transport strategies on urban travel in Metro Cebu
SCOPE, LIMITATIONS, AND DELIMITATIONS Cebu City and outskirts Study is confined to major or significant roads due to lack of data Data obtained will be limited due to scope or size of the area of study
ASSUMPTIONS There are no pedicabs (or similar vehicles) considered in the vicinity. The public utility vehicles (PUVs) are merely passing through streets that are included on the street maps. The vehicle operating cost does not change throughout the period of the study. Total number of vehicles in the system is constant. Zone delineation would be patterned to the political boundaries.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY Improving of urban road conditions (travel time and congestion) Meeting the increasing traffic demand of the future (Sustainability) Favorable to the environment and health of the general population.
