Imagine further that all this was available through a web portal and readily identifiable with Fresno State

What would be Gained? For Publishing Faculty? For Fresno State Scholarship? For Fresno State & its Departments? For the Community?

A Digital Repository for Fresno State The real strength of an Institutional Repository is in its ability to collect, preserve, and project the scholarly output of the University, and make it available to the people of the state and beyond. This is a Fresno State initiative, not a library initiative - Richard Clement Dean of Libraries, Utah State University

scholarly, creative, and instructional works; The Fresno State Digital Repository (FSDR) is the open access repository for the intellectual and cultural capital of California State University, Fresno. It collects, preserves, and provides access to the scholarly, creative, instructional, and administrative work of campus faculty, staff, and in some cases students. scholarly, creative, and instructional works; Fresno State theses and dissertations; research data sets; and University publications and archival documents. Scope includes Green Open Access for scholarly works. Our scope is broader than that, however. Also includes instructional materials, so possible to publisher OERs. Theses and dissertations already on line, moved to repository. Data sets, trend in publishing is to include these. We can host them. University publications: yearbooks, Collegian. Archival documents: Senate minutes, etc.

Why a Digital Repository? Increase visibility, access, and impact Meet funding agency requirements Disseminate research, instructional, or artistic work as it develops Support Open Access and Open Education Ensure persistent access and preservation Preserve and present Fresno State’s legacy Open Access increases visibility and access for deposited scholarly/creative works -increased citations for researchers Returns work to the community -press release can include link to research (Joy Goto) -News on irrigation can be available to growers in the valley Meet funding agency requirements Disseminate your research or artistic work as it develops: include posters, a-v items, derivative works, not just published papers. Engage with communities within and outside Fresno State. Support Open Access and Open Education: CSU Council of Library Deans resolution in the works encouraging open access. Tie to AL$ Ensure persistent access and preservation Preserve our legacy, Present the collective work of Fresno State. Scholars have many open access opportunities, but this shows our collective value.
