Do Nows Every day when you walk into class the first thing you will do is the “Do Now” slide that will be presented on the promethean board. You are expected to come in and complete the task assigned. This “Do Now” slide will only be posted for the first 15 minutes of class so try not to be late.

Do Nows You are expected to do the “Do Nows” everyday when you walk in because it is the procedure. You will use a composition notebook to complete the “Do Nows” “Do Nows” are essential because they can be used for an opening to a new topic, for a review of a past topic, for critical thinking and for food for thought.

Home Learning The Home Learning assignments are due at the beginning of class. If you are absent make sure to ask for makeup work. You will only get credit for it if it is excused. If it is unexcused you can still ask for makeup work but will receive no credit.

Books The class books are kept in the cabinet nicely organized. You are not allowed to take any book home because there is only a class set. The class book can be found in your student portal under the e-book link.

Safety Director (SD) The safety director is responsible for enforcing all safety rules and conducting the lab. Assists the PD with keeping the group on-task Conducts lab procedures Reports any accident to the teacher Keeps track of time Assists the MM as needed.

Laboratory Know the primary and secondary exit routes from the classroom.  Know the location of and how to use the safety equipment in the classroom. Work at your assigned seat unless obtaining equipment and chemicals. Do not handle equipment or chemicals without the teacher’s permission. Follow laboratory procedures as explained and do not perform unauthorized experiments

Laboratory Continued Work as quietly as possible and cooperate with your lab partner. Wear appropriate clothing, proper footwear, and eye protection.   Report to the teachers all accidents and possible hazards. Remove all unnecessary materials from the work area and completely clean up the work area after the experiment. Always make safety your first consideration in the laboratory.

Fire Alarms When ever there is a fire alarm the class will stop what they are doing and listen to the teachers instructions. The class will then proceed by exiting the classroom by making a left and heading towards the nearest stairs case. Students will go down the stairs and exit the building toward the visitor parking lot. When the all clear is given, the student will walk back up the same route and go straight to class. You may not go to the restroom or drink water because all students must be accounted for.

Uniforms Our dress code has the following restrictions: No shorts of any length No tube tops, see-through blouses, midriff tops, halter-tops, tank tops or spaghetti straps on tops No head coverings, hats, caps, sunglasses, scarves or hair rollers No low-cut apparel No mini-skirts or tennis skirts No Crocs, clogs, thongs, sandals, shoes without back support or open-toes No clothing with written messages No riding/cycling pants Pants must be worn at the waist

Uniforms Continued Parents will be notified if the student is not properly dressed. Appropriate clothing will need to be brought to the office in order for the child to return to class. Progressive disciplinary consequences will be issued for students not wearing the required uniform. Our students will become productive citizens and leaders of the future. We want our students to “dress for success.”

Food and Hall Passes You are not allowed to go to the vending machine. You are not allowed to bring food into the classroom. There is extra credit for not using hall passes, so try not to go anywhere. You may use up to 3 passes each semester to receive extra credit. Passes will not be given the first 15 minutes of class or the last 15 minutes of class.
