Revelation 17 & 18 Religion of Babylon & Government of Babylon The events of Chapter 17 are likely the events that have already happened at the beginning of the great tribulation. Chapter 17 represents a description of the fall of the Religions system of Babylon. Chapter 18 represents a description of the fall of the Political system of Babylon. CHAPTER 17 The greatest enemy to the true Christianity, is a false or empty religious system. Those who have partaken of that system have become consumed by it’s teachings and activities which are not established by Christ. It is clear, in the end times, that the church has prostituted herself and has become the “harlot” or the prostitute of the government of the beast and has sold itself to the ‘highest’ bidder. The prostitute is sitting on a 7-headed beast that has 10 horns. This is the same beast as described in 13:1, the revived roman empire. By the description of 17:3-4, the harlot has a lot of control and is supported by the political system of the beast.

Some of Jeremiah and Ezekiel’s objections to false religions involved the worship of Tammuz and the “Queen of Heaven.” The Worship of Baal and Religions of Canaan started from this kind of worship in Babylon. This is the 1st half of Daniel’s 70th week (first ½ of the 7 year tribulation) The fact that the apostate church of Revelation will marry the satan led government, shows how sinful the end time church will become. If you look through history, the only World Church ever to be formed will be this one, the spiritual Babylon of Revelation: which occurs after the true Christian church is raptured; no longer on the earth. Golden Cup: Spiritual adultery is the worse sin described in the Bible. As the alliance with the government increases, spiritual truth and purity decreases.
