Please listen to your child read the story and sign the page inside the cover of the book. Don’t forget to listen to your child read the fluency passage every Tues, Wed, & Thurs. night. They are due Friday. Spelling: Our spelling words this week are contractions. Please help your child study for the test on Friday. Grammar: We will be learning about common and proper nouns. Math: Most students are finishing place value and are working on addition. Science/Social Studies: We will be learning about Abraham Lincoln and other United States Presidents this week. Projects: This week while learning about Abraham Lincoln, students will watch the movie, “Tad”. Help Wanted! Transportation Changes: Please always send a note if there are afternoon transportation changes. Students panic if they don’t know what to do! Spelling Info: There are 3 groups of words on the spelling list. 1. Spelling Words- Your child must learn to spell these words only. 2. High Frequency Words- They need to be able to read these words independently. 3. Vocabulary Words- They need to be able to use the in a sentence for the Reading Test. They need to know the correct meaning and usage of each Vocabulary word. They do not have to spell the High Frequency or the Vocabulary Words for the Spelling Test. Mark Your Calendar: Make-Up Picture Day is on Oct. 17th. We will have a guest speaker from the Kentucky Derby Museum on Oct. 25th. Please do not send candy or soft drinks. Thanks! Weekly Homework Nightly: Study Spelling Words-the test will be on Friday. Mon.-Read the new reading story aloud to an adult. Have them to sign the signature sheet in the book. Only sign for the current story. Please don’t sign in advance. Tues/Wed/Thurs.-Read the fluency passage each night and turn it in Friday. We will have a Reading, Spelling and Grammar test every Friday.
