Read 20 minutes and practice spelling each night.  Mrs. Lammons’ Newsletter September 18-22 Homework: Homework is only used to reinforce skills taught in class. 30 minutes per night is the maximum that should be spent working on homework. Your child should read 20 minutes every night . Students need to read different genres to meet the 40 Book Challenge. The planner is located in your child’s G.O. book. Read 20 minutes and practice spelling each night.  Math: Lesson 2.3-Lesson 2.6 (pages P29-P35)*Homework pages are found in the GO Math Standards Practice workbook. Important Dates: Sept 22 AEEC/OES Night at the Auburn High School Football game 9/28 AEEC Family Math and Science Night 6-7PM 10/10 Bat Lady presents to 2nd Graders 10/12 Springer Opera House Field Trip 10/19 AEEC Glow Party 4:30-7:30PM 10/23-10/27 Red Ribbon Week What We Are Learning Read Aloud: The Salamander Room by Anne Mazer Comprehension: I can identify sensory language and imagery. Grammar: I can identify adjective as a part of speech. Phonics: I can spell words with short i and long i (ex trip, time). Writing: I can write a personal narrative. Math: I can learn about the place value of numbers to 1,000. I will also learn about comparing these numbers. Social Sciences: I can make observations from media to obtain information about Earth's events that happen over a short period of time (e.g., tornados, volcanic explosions, earthquakes) or over a time period longer than one can observe (e.g., erosion of rocks, melting of glaciers). *Ask your child about the chalk experiment and making butter!
