GNVQ Pre-Release Unit 1 – December 2006

INSTRUCTIONS • Complete each task on your own. • Please read the instructions and the scenario before you start the tasks. • Complete each task on your own. • Start each task on a new page. • Clearly label each page with your name, registration number and centre number. • Your pre-prepared work contributes 20% to the overall mark for this unit.

When creating these documents, it is important that you focus on the following: • Styles of writing and presentation • Purpose of the document • Document layout • Presentation techniques • Content – this should be relevant and complete

The Logo The company logo is given in the Candidate Brief. This is the logo that must be used on all tasks For our example we have created a logo

Task 1 – The Poster The poster must be produced on one A4 page, single sided. You must include the company logo

Task 2 - The Membership Card You should include a photograph of a person, male or female, on the membership card. The membership card should be credit card sized, double sided, with both sides printed on one A4 page, and must NOT be cut out from the paper used to print it. The front and back of the membership card should be labelled.

Task 3 – The Agenda The next meeting will take place on a date that is between the end of September and the 5th December The scenario includes several details which should be incorporated into the agenda. You should make up three sensible items of their own to be included on the agenda. These items must be unique to you.

Task 4 - The Timetable You must produce a timetable for the main swimming pool for November The scenario includes details of sessions that take place in the three pools. You are expected to extract the appropriate sessions for the main pool from the scenario. You must make up two sessions that take place this month, one of which must be unique to you, the other could also be made up by you or could be one of those given as an example in the scenario. The timetable must be designed to be printed on A4 paper and can be single or double sided. If you design your timetable to be folded it must NOT be folded when submitted.

Task 5 – The Application Form Create an online application form for tickets for the next three day festival. The application form must include: • customer contact details • the type of tickets available • the total cost of the tickets chosen.

You could look on the Internet at websites that sell tickets online and decide on suitable methods of presenting such information. The application form should include sufficient details to identify the customer, the type of ticket chosen and the total cost. Payment details should not be included. The application form must be one A4 page, single sided.

There are many examples of applications forms for you to research on the internet.

The logo customer contact details the type of tickets available the total cost of the tickets chosen.
