FORMAL EDUCATION FOR GIRLS LOCAL INITIATIVES, GLOBAL MINDS Aneela Adnan

Academic Enrichment: Support for success OPHELIA’S PLACE Academic Enrichment: Support for success Our drop-in space includes a study area with computers, as well as a printer and various study aids. We offer a homework and study skills group, financial literacy and post-graduation plans workshops, and a professional skills camp. We regularly partner with the Decision Education Foundation to provide workshops and summer camps focused on building good decision-making and divergent thinking skills. Volunteers are available periodically for basic tutoring, resume writing, and college preparation. Girls 14-18 can also join WACY (Women’s Advisory Council for Youth) to gain volunteer hours and leadership experience through activism, advocacy, and fundraising.

AAUW For more than 125 years, the American Association of University Women has been one of the nation’s leading voices promoting education and equity for women and girls. AAUW is composed of two corporations: the Association and the AAUW Educational Foundation. Through its nationwide network, AAUW opens doors for women and girls and influences public debate on critical social issues such as education, civil rights, and workplace equity. AAUW sponsors community programs; publishes groundbreaking research on women, girls, and education; is one of the world’s largest sources of funding exclusively for graduate women; and fights sex discrimination in education.

Women in Transition Women in Transition empowers women to become economically self-sufficient and improve their lives through access to education. Women in Transition is designed to help women regain their sense of confidence, clarity and genuine well-being.

STEM The long-term vision of Lane STEM is a county rich with STEM opportunities that ignite student interest in, and fuel preparation for, STEM careers.
