Year 11 Geography internal exams 2016 Aim To understand the exam paper structure and what needs to be revised for the exams

DO NOT ANSWER ANY OTHER QUESTIONS ON THE PAPER!!!!!!! The exam papers Paper 2 Human Geography Paper 1 Physical Geography This paper will be 1 hour 30 mins long You will need to answer 3 ‘questions’ each of which is broken down into smaller parts. You will need to spend 30 minutes on each question. Answer question 1 on Restless Earth from Section A, question 5 on Water on the Land and question 7 on The Coastal Zone both from Section B This paper will be 45 mins long You will need to answer 2 ‘questions’ each of which is broken down into smaller parts You will need to spend 15 minutes on the Population change question and 30 mins on the Tourism question DO NOT ANSWER ANY OTHER QUESTIONS ON THE PAPER!!!!!!!

Topic lists Paper 1 Physical Geography Paper 2 Human Geography Plate tectonics, volcanoes, earthquakes and tsunamis River landforms, hydrographs, reservoirs and dams Coastal landforms, sea level rise, coastal management Population increase, how population changes Tourist attractions, Butlers Life cycle of tourism, factors influencing tourist numbers, the importance of tourism, ecotourism Remember that you will be tested on your SKILLS (OS maps, graphs, diagrams, sketches. You will also need to learn Case studies IN DETAIL i.e. dates, facts, figures etc

Grades You will be given marks out of 25 for each question (except for the population question which is only worth 10 marks) You will then be given a total mark for each paper (Physical Geography out of 75 and Human Geography out of 35). The marks for each paper will be combined and you will be given a grade based on the grade boundaries for those papers when they were sat by students in the past. You will receive detailed feedback from your teacher when the papers have been marked and moderated. You will need to green pen your corrections using the mark schemes provided by your teachers If you do not achieve within one grade of your target then you will need to re- sit the paper. NB this will be a different paper from the one you sat. Your grade will be reported home.
