What’s the plan…. The Strategy The Survey The Scope The Action

The Strategy Based upon HL7 International Education Strategy Objectives: To provide quality education to meet workplace needs; To build the reputation and membership of HL7, showing leadership in education and professional quality assurance. To expand the knowledge of the value of HL7 publications and organisation within the health community. Articulate the need to employ people with demonstrable HL7 skills and why these skills should be demanded by the industry. Articulate the HL7 skills required to meet specific HL7 standard implementation Support the financial viability of HL7 Australia Industry needs to be aware of the advances and underpinning standards of health information and systems for information exchange, and be able to effectively contribute to and influence those standards. Individuals need to know the value of HL7 education and it needs to be a priority for them. HL7 should be the consistent source of quality assured competency in the international community Educators and educational organisations need to be encouraged to provide quality education The strategy is needed to support HL7 Australia's leadership image. Employers need to know what skills (including the level of skill) is needed for a given job and that the people they employ are competent in those skills.

The Action Seeking members of education working group to Advise on priorities for development Review options Guide an education program 3 education events a year Develop online learning offerings specific to Australia/Asia Seeking education partners from .edu providers to work with HL7 to: include HL7 in exiting programs and offer programs to HL7 members. Will continue to work with HL7 International to Use existing material Collaborate to improve material and scope

Questions for you…. What do you feel are the key activities for us to undertake? Do you want Short, problem focused learning Longer more extensive courses with certification? Regular activities offered online but also around Australia – regular rotation of meetings combined with education.
