2016-2017 Reading & Math Academies Curriculum Directors’ Meeting April 20, 2017 Dr. Sheron Darragh

Who Can Attend? Qualified campuses for academies are listed by ESC on TEA’s Website (tea.texas.gov/curriculum/academies) Only teachers from identified priority campuses may attend Region 7 will be offering special academy sessions for Instructional Coaches, Administrators, and Curriculum Directors Teachers from the Commissioner’s Priority list may attend an academy Teachers may attend more than one subject academy, i.e., a Kindergarten teacher may attend a Kindergarten Reading Academy and the K-1 Math Academy.

Registration Make sure teachers have updated their accounts Registration is linked to eligible campuses

Helpful Information Regarding Stipends Stipends are for classroom teachers only This includes Special Education, Bilingual/ESL teachers working with students of the grade level academy We encourage Special Education and Bilingual/ESL teachers to attend the academies Teachers will need their Unique IDs It will be helpful if teachers know their Unique ID before attending their academy session Stipends take time to process Funds for stipends will be sent directly to the district Districts will receive an email from TEA with stipend amounts, along with a table listing the names of the teachers and the amount of their stipend Make sure your District’s AskTed Directory is up to date Stipend information is sent to the AskTed Administrator
