The Christian’s Worldview - 3 What we do with what we Know 5:19

Foundations to Christian living. “We know” Foundations to Christian living. “We don’t know” “We have forgotten” “We no longer live…”

We no longer live as new people who do not live in the State of sin. We have forgotten that Jesus keeps us safe and that the evil cannot lay a hand on us. We no longer remember that we live with a new way of thinking. It is no longer clear to us, it’s entirely debatable that we are a people “of God” and we are not sure if the rest of the world lies in the lap of evil.

This is truth, the way the world truly is and we must work at remembering this truth and living according to this truth. The truth is: “I am God’s child”. The rest of the world is in bed with evil.

Live as light What do we do with what we know? First – avoid two extremes Becoming like the world Remove ourselves from the world Live as light

of how not to compromise Refuse to Compromise Jesus – our model of how not to compromise Godly man and ruler Not a life of compromise King Jehoshaphat

In everything he walked in the Refuse to Compromise In everything he walked in the ways of his father Asa and did not stray from them; he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord 1 Kings 22:42-44 King Jehoshaphat

Compromise is often subtle. Compromised for peace… Peace, wealth and honor 2 Chron. 17 Compromised for peace… 2 Chron. 18:1 King Jehoshaphat …which lead to war 2 Chron. 18:3 2 Chronicles 17-19

Compromise most often in relationships Let’s seek the Lord 18:4-27 For the people of this world are more shrewd…that the people of the light. Luke 16:8 King Jehoshaphat 2 Chronicles 17-19

Compromise has consequences All his sons were murdered by the new king Grandmother killed all his grandchildren (except one) King Jehoshaphat Wars were fought that didn’t need to be fought 2 Chronicles 17-19 Failed business venture

Live as light but do not compromise. Ephesians 4:17-5:8

Beyond a shadow of a doubt we know, and know it absolutely, that our life came from God and belongs to God. We’re loved! We’re his children! That’s how we live! We also know just as clearly, that the entire world-system has made its bed in the troubles and pain-ridden agony called “evil.” They lie there with the evil one without a clue of the danger they are in.
