What is College Credit Plus (CCP)? College Credit Plus (CCP), formerly known as PSEO, is a program that allows students in grades 7-12 the opportunity to be enrolled in both high school and college course work at the same time. Students MUST apply for acceptance to the university/college they would like to attend for CCP

Continued… Carefully develop your plan, including selecting the option and courses you hope to take, with your high school officials before registering.

Important Things to Consider… Students involved in CCP will be taking college level courses. Students will be applying to a university/college and will be accepted to that institution based on its admission requirements. Each institution has its own admission requirements. It is the responsibility of the student to look into these requirements through contacting the institution directly or looking online. Westfall Local School District has no control over the acceptance of a student to CCP or a university/college. It is the responsibility of the student to contact the university/college he/she would like to attend for CCP.

Important Things to Consider… FERPA - CCP students are considered college students upon participation in the program. Under FERPA, college records are not to be released to anyone, including parents, without written permission from the student. Grades from CCP will appear on a high school transcript. Grades from CCP will appear on the college transcript the student is attending. These grades must be presented if/when a student applies to another college as a high school graduate. Students are subject to a college’s academic probation and/or dismissal from their institution.

Important Things to Consider… Majority of colleges have a C- as their academic probation level. Each college is different. It is imperative that you are aware of any repercussions that may affect your student based upon an academic probation status. CCP is free to students. HOWEVER, if a student fails a course, they MUST pay back the cost of tuition and books for the failed course! Group work example

Important Things to Consider… Credits transfer from public to private colleges fairly easily. Once again, though a college may accept a student’s CCP credits they may not be accepted by your student’s chosen major. Things I have heard from private colleges. We won’t accept CCP credits. We will accept CCP credits as electives only. They won’t count toward a student’s “major” requirements. We won’t accept credits from another private college. We will only accept “post high school” credits. (That means credits you’ve earned AFTER your high school graduation. We will not accept ANY online credits. It is CRAZY, SUPER IMPORTANT that you ask an admissions office things like this…..

Letter of Intent If a student is interested in participating in College Credit Plus for the 2016-2017 school year, he/she MUST sign a Letter of Intent and return it to Mr. Rediger/Mrs. Brown NO LATER than March 17th. This does not mean you cannot change your mind. It is simply required by the state of Ohio for recording purposes.
