ALLER AND THE FUTUR PROCHE How to conjugate the verb aller and form the immediate future

ALLER The verb aller means to go and has irregular conjugation Aller = To go je vais nous allons tu vas vous allez il/elle va ils/elles vont Aller Song

ALLER EXAMPLES Je vais au lac. Nous allons à la campagne. I’m going to the lake (I go to the lake). Nous allons à la campagne. We’re going (we go) to the country. They’re (fem.) going to the internet café. Elles vont au cybercafé. Tu ne vas pas au théâtre. You not go to the theater (you’re not going to the theater).

FUTUR PROCHE The futur proche = immediate future or what you are going to do. These events are definitely going to happen some time in the near future (no longer than 3 weeks). You ALWAYS use the verb aller when using the futur proche

FUTUR PROCHE Forming the futur proche is simple, just follow this ‘formula’ Subject +Aller conjugated + infinitive of main verb Example: Je vais manger des frites. = I’m going to eat some fries

EXAMPLES Tu vas faire la fête. Demain, il va faire chaud. You’re going to party. Demain, il va faire chaud. Tomorrow its going to be hot Nous allons aller au parc. We are going to go to the park. I’m going to speak French. Je vais parler français. NOTE:When talking in the immediate future, English adds the word is/are but French do NOT

CLASS WORK Change the following from present tense to future proche. Je fais du ski. Il fait du soleil. Nous allons au théâtre. Vous jouez au foot. Tu vas à l’école.

Negative Futur Proche When forming the negative of future proche, just add ne…pas around aller. Je ne vais pas manger au café. = I’m not going to eat at the café. REMEMBER do not put pas after the second verb! Vous n’allez pas manger des pommes. = You aren’t going to eat apples. Write into your notes, Its not going to be windy. Il ne va pas faire du vent.

CLASS WORK Write the following sentences from present tense to negative future proche. Je ne fais pas du skate. Elle ne fait pas du jogging. Il ne fait pas beau. Nous ne jouons pas de la batterie. Elles ne vont pas à la mer.
